For years we have known that homeowners that were willing to install a large (PV) system could create a net-zero energy home. The trouble was their grandchildren would have been the first to see any return on that investment. The key to Sustainable Homes is energy Conservation not Creation. With energy Conservation as the fundamental bedrock of our company there is little wonder why our homes are 60-70% more efficient than conventional homes built in Texas.
When you take a highly energy efficient building system in conjunction with energy conservation methods, it allows us to install a much smaller solar array and still obtain a zero energy home. One of our primary goals as a company is to build homes at a cost increase of only 10-12% above the cost of a conventionally built home. When we can show our clients a return on their investment of 5-7 years before federal, state, and local rebates building a Sustainable Home makes good sense for the environment but also financial sense.
